Billboard, website pop up requesting Target come to Sevierville

As hotel room demand grows in Sevier County, a group of residents has a growing demand for a popular retailer to move to Sevierville.

If you've driven along Highway 66 recently, you may have seen a billboard promoting wewanttarget.com.

More than 1,300 people have signed an online petition asking for Target to come to Sevierville, so we wanted to know who's behind the sign and website.

Reward increased for information in Gatlinburg murder case

Reward increased for information in Gatlinburg murder case

The state is hoping a bigger reward will lead to an arrest in the murder of a Gatlinburg business woman.

More than three years ago, Shannon Hercutt was discovered at the bottom of a steep hill inside her SUV. Investigators first thought it was an accident, but an autopsy revealed she had been beaten in the head.

According to Hercutt's family, the state is now adding $10,000 to the reward in the case, bringing the total to $35,000.

Police in Sevierville say a couple robbed an elderly woman while she shopped at Walmart.

Detectives say they took the woman's wallet, then tried to use some of her credit cards.

The only clues police have right now about the identities of the couple are surveillance pictures from inside Walmart.

VA clinic opens in Sevierville

VA clinic opens in Sevierville

Thousands of East Tennessee veterans can now receive care much closer to home if they live in the Sevier County area. 

Veterans and local officials celebrated Tuesday the opening of a new VA clinic in the former Fort Sanders Hospital near Middle Creek Road in Sevierville.

Prior to its opening, vets had to travel more than an hour and a half to Mountain Home, or about 45 minutes to Knoxville to see a VA doctor.

Officials say the facility will serve about 2,300 veterans with primary care and mental health services.

Rockslide shuts down road Little River Road

Rockslide shuts down road Little River Road

A rock slide is blocking one lane on Little River Road between Metcalf Bottoms and Townsend Wye, according to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The road is completely shut down at the slide.

Officials say they will evaluate the situation Wednesday.

There is no estimated time at this point for the road to re-open.

As the Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate a deadly, fiery crash in Sevier County involving a church van and an SUV that killed two people on Sunday morning, 10News is learning more about emergency response to the scene.

As a result of the accident, the Sevier County Sheriff's Department is re-evaluating the safety equipment they carry, even though the investigation has not revealed fire extinguishers could have changed the outcome of the accident.
