Pigeon Forge visitors celebrate different Christmas traditions

(WBIR - Pigeon Forge) What if you spent Christmas day not next to a Christmas tree or unwrapping gifts -- but fly 400 feet in the air, or next to a wax statue of Elvis?

Thousands of visitors flocked to Pigeon Forge this Thursday to celebrate in an unorthodox way. Whether it's part of the Flights of Wonder hot air balloon, or the Wax Museum at Pigeon Forge, many attractions were open.

Deputies search for man connected to missing girl case

Sevier County deputies are searching for a man who is apparently connected to a missing girl case.

Detectives said 17-year-old Michalla A. McMahan went missing on Nov. 29, but officials found her on Sunday after she called her mother. Authorities tracked her cell phone to a home in Penhook, Va.

Kodak-Northview VFD receives new fire engine

(WBIR - Sevier County) The Kodak Volunteer Fire Department Friday welcomed a new set of wheels to its fleet.

Kodak VFD's held a dedication ceremony for its new fire engine and is now in service. The truck was designed with the department in mind, which firefighters said will help them speed up their response time.

Members of the department said the event is special because they typically don't get new engines.

Dollywood auditions for 2015 season begin in January

(WBIR - Pigeon Forge) Dollywood is already looking forward to the 2015 season.

Dollywood will begin hosting a series of auditions around the region to fill shows for the upcoming year. The auditions will take place in Pigeon Forge, Nashville and Atlanta, Georgia throughout January. The amusement park will be looking for people with experience in country or pop music as well as musical theater.

Firefighters want to help family who lost everything in fire

The Pigeon Forge Fire Department was called to the home on Watson Court Friday around 2:30 am. The found the house almost fully engulfed in flames, and were unable to save it.

Luckily, the family of eight-- three adults and five children, were not injured. But they lost everything in the fire with Christmas just around the corner.

Woman with gun shot wound found in wrecked car

Sevierville police are investigating after a woman was found shot in her car.

A driver stopped on Red Bank Road to help a car in a ditch at about 7:20 a.m. Thursday. He called police after the woman inside the car said she had been shot.

Crews took the woman to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Police said it appears the woman was shot in the back. No word on her condition at this time.

Sevier Co. deputies search for missing 14-year-old

The Sevier County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing 14-year-old boy.

Deputies said Shawn Jacob Lowery was last seen by his mother at 1 a.m. Tuesday. At the time, he was wearing blue jeans, brown work boots, a blue sweatshirt, and a black jacket. He has brown hair and hazel eyes, weighs 135 pounds, and is 5'9" tall.

Officials said Lowery is diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar, and depression. He is refusing to take his medication, according to the sheriff's office.
