Catholic running back Nolan Coulter claims the Week 4 Offensive Player of the Week award. The senior led the Fighting Irish to a 33-10 district win over William Blount with 195 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

 

Coulter also eclipsed the 3,000 yard career rushing mark in that game. Catholic takes on Webb on Friday night in the Battle of the Bluff. You can watch the game on cable channel 10News2.

Classmates organize celebration of life for teen who died in church van crash

Thrusday, students remembered the life of a Seymour High School teenager who was killed in a church van crash. Courteney Kaliszewski's classmates organized a celebration of life at Summitt Church in Seymour.

The service first started as a small event, then quickly grew, with so many people planning to attend that it moved from a home to the church.

Those who knew Courteney say she was always a great friend and classmate.

Students plan memorial for church van crash victim

Seymour High School students plan to meet Thursday night to remember one of their own at an event organized by the teens themselves.

Courteney Kaliszewski, 16, died Sunday in a church van crash on Chapman Highway along with Cedar Grove Baptist youth director Jeff Trussell. Ten other people were injured, after the driver of a Chevy Blazer crashed into the van head-on on Chapman Highway.

Angels of Hope helps cancer patients

Hundreds of East Tennessee cancer patients benefit from a volunteer effort to help them around the holidays.

"This says love is all you need," reads a hand made pillow case.

Love motivated UT Medical Oncologist Dr. Susan Huntsinger to start a program to help the cancer patients she treats.

"To be able to do this for them and give them just that little bit of spark that little bit of hope is just a wonderful thing," she said.

She realized the holidays can be especially difficult for her patients.

TVA kicks off fundraising campaign

A campaign that helps dozens of East Tennessee organizations kicked off Wednesday. It's TVA's annual Smoky Mountain Region Combined Federal Campaign.

"It's important, especially as federal employees. One thing we do every day is support our community and our nation, and this is yet another way we can also take our fortune and share it with those in need," said Colonel Tim Cathcart.

Through this effort, all federal employees across the region can give back to various charitable organizations. Those organizations range from local to global.

It's Football Time in Tennessee!

 

It's the day Vol fans have been waiting for, the start of the 2012 football season.    

It's been a long offseason for the team having to dwell on a loss to Kentucky for the last eight months.

But today the Vols open up the season against NC State.

The arrived in Atlanta yesterday afternoon.

This is the first time in 73 years that the team has played a regular season game on a Friday.

The Vols will take on the Wolfpack tonight at the Georgia Dome at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be aired on ESPU-U.
