A Sevier County man is now facing vehicular homicide charges after a fatal crash this past weekend.

William Heine was behind the wheel Saturday when he hit a telephone pole on Porterfield Gap Road.

He admitted to drinking 5 or 6 mixed drinks before the crash happened.

According to THP, the passenger in the truck, 28-year-old Kristi Creel, was not wearing a seatbelt, and died.

After the crash, Heine left the scene.  Now he faces a vehicular homicide charge. Heine's court date is set for October 10th.

A Sevierville woman was killed and a Seymour man was injured after a one-vehicle crash in Sevier County early Saturday morning.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. on Porterfield Gap Road, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

William C. Heine Jr., 34, of Seymour was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound on Porterfield Gap Road.

The truck veered off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The passenger, Kristi M. Creel, 28, of Sevierville, was killed.

Heine was injured.

Neither was wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

Citations were issued, and charges are pending.
