Police in Sevierville say a couple robbed an elderly woman while she shopped at Walmart.

Detectives say they took the woman's wallet, then tried to use some of her credit cards.

The only clues police have right now about the identities of the couple are surveillance pictures from inside Walmart.

Man pleads guilty to stabbing Sevier Co. man to death

The case of a murdered Sevier County man has ended with a plea deal.

Police found Derek Ogle dead along a nature trail at Gatlinburg Town Square last May.

They say the 27-year-old had been stabbed to death.

Tuesday, Anthony Richards pleaded guilty to second degree murder. He's sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Six Sevierville and Pigeon Forge stores burglarized in four hours

At least six businesses were  burglarized Thursday morning in the Sevierville and Pigeon Forge area.

All of the break-ins happened between the hours of 1 and 4 a.m. according to Sevierville police and store owners.

Many of the shops were within walking distance of one another.

Sevierville P.D. Spokesman Bob Stahlke says they're investigating the possibility all the incidents are related.

He says initial analysis of surveillance video appears to show the same suspects at two of the three Sevierville break-ins. The third did not provide video.

A Sevier County couple is accused of stealing copper tubing from propane tanks and air conditioning coils from a church and nearly a dozen homes.

According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals, James C. Lowe, 25 of Sevierville and Kristy A. Smith, 34, of Gatlinburg face 13 charges each of theft and vandalism.

A 911 call about the smell of gas in the Ski Mountain Road area of Gatlinburg started the investigation.  Gatlinburg Police Department found that the copper tubing of a propane tank had been cut and started a leak.

Sevier Co. man pleads guilty in animal cruelty case

At the end of May, authorities found dozens of dead and barely living cats inside a Sevierville mobile home.

Thursday, a Sevier County man pled guilty to five counts of animal cruelty, all misdemeanors.

William Hood appeared in a Sevier County courtroom Thursday morning. He will serve at least 30 days in the county jail before he goes to Centerpointe for therapy.

Hood will then be placed on five consecutive years of supervised probation.

Among the other agreements, he can't have any more animals without court approval.

Man arrested in Va. after robbing Sevierville pharmacy

A man accused of robbing a Sevierville pharmacy is now behind bars in Virginia.

Police in Bristol, Virginia arrested 38-year-old Robert A. Payne on Tuesday.

According to Sevierville police, Payne walked into the Kroger off Highway 66 in Sevierville Sunday evening with a box cutter and handed a pharmacy technician a note demanding prescription pills.

After getting some pills, police say he took off.

Sevierville police are waiting for Payne to be extradited back to Tennessee.

He's facing an aggravated robbery charge.

5 AC units stolen from Knob Creek Baptist Church

It's easy to take air conditioning for granted, but this Sunday, members of a local church will have to go without.

Someone stole all five units from Knob Creek Baptist Church in Seymour.

ACs are a common target because they contain copper, and while thieves usually receive less than $100 per unit for the metal, it can cost thousands to replace.

Members of Knob Creek believe it will cost around $14,000 to replace their units, though they do have insurance.
