Andrea Kendrick RD. of DNA Performance and Nutrition designed a delicious and nutritious menu Just for this event and Chef Ray has been secured by RiverStone Resort to prepare the meals for the event and will be giving cooking demonstrations throughout out the weekend.

Ever wonder if you child's car seat is installed properly?  Put your mind at ease.  Firefighters with the Sevierville Fire Department are holding a Child Car Safety Seat Inspection Thursday, January 17 at the Collier Drive Sub-Station in Sevierville.

'Smoky Mountain Winterfest Celebration' kicks off Monday

Sevier County kicks off its 24th annual "Smoky Mountain Winterfest Celebration" on Monday night.

This is a multi-month festival stretching from Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

People gathered at the Sevierville Municipal Complex for fun games, music and magic. Families also enjoyed live entertainment, fireworks and kids' games during the day in honor of Winterfest.

Officials will flip the switch on thousands of holiday lights stretching along those areas at 8:00 Monday night.

Motorcyclists give 'Marines Toys for Tots' an early start

Halloween just ended, but people are already spreading holiday cheer.

Nearly a thousand people drove their motorcycles to the Sevier County fairgrounds on Sunday morning to help families in need.

Each person brought a new, unwrapped toy or donation to contribute to the 21st annual "Marines Toys for Tots Toy Run." This event helps thousands of children and their families across East Tennessee.

Organizers said they helped 65,000 kids last year by providing more than 100,000 toys and raising $37,000.

Gatlinburg school celebrates century long legacy

This weekend, Gatlinburg will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School.

The school has preserved its history even as it looks to the future.

A mural at the school entrance captures the wilderness educators encountered a century ago.

As a service project, members of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women had pin pointed a southern Appalachian community where they thought they could make a difference.

Smokies visits about 9 percent ahead of last year

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- The Great Smoky Mountains National Park entered the fall foliage season with nearly 9 percent more visitors, year to date.

Figures released by the National Park Service showed 963,317 people came to the park in September -- a 9.2 percent increase over September 2011.

Through the first nine months of this year, visits were up 8.9 percent, meaning 602,000 more people have come to the Smokies this year than in the first three quarters of 2011.
