Pigeon Forge Alpine Coaster offers snowy Smoky views | News
Wednesday's snowfall offered visitors to the Smokies some breathtaking views and Pigeon Forge tourists found an exciting way to experience it.
The Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster takes riders more than three hundred and sixty feet up along a mile long track and then allows people sitting in individual carts to control their speed on the winding way down.
The coaster operates in warmer weather too, but was especially designed for the snow by couple from Germany who opened the attraction about three months ago on Wears Valley Rd. Views from the top Wednesday offered a gorgeous snowy landscape and visitors say it was worth the chilly weather.
"I thought it was awesome, it went so fast and we could see all the houses and the snow up on top of the mountain," said eight-year-old Riley Beard of Charleston. "I could see for forever up there."
Mangers say as long as there is a demand they intend to remain open all winter.
