News

(WBIR) A West Tennessee inmate is facing charges in connection to a threat and suspicious powder mailed to an East Tennessee official.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, back in February inmate Mark Rhodes sent a letter to the Sevierville office of District Attorney General James Dunn.

An office employee opened the letter which contained a suspicious white power along with threats targeting Dunn. TBI said Dunn prosecuted a case involving Rhodes.

Investigators were able to verify that Rhodes sent the letter from the West Tennessee State Penitentiary.

The Lauderdale County grand jury indicted Rhodes on Monday with one count of distribution or delivery of a substance as a hoax, one count of retaliation for past action, and three counts of false report.
