Gun season for deer opens Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Gun season for deer opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 5.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, hunters may harvest one antlered buck per day until the statewide bag limit of three is reached, which includes deer harvested during archery and muzzleloader seasons. An antlered buck is a buck with antlers at least three inches long.

The bag limit for antlerless deer depends on where the deer is harvested

A teenage boy has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty for shooting a dog with a bow and arrow.  The dog had to be euthanized.

Investigators with the Sevier County Sheriff's Office say the 14-year-old turned himself in.

Allie, a 6-year-old golden retriever mix, was found with the arrow through her body last week in Seymour.  She was taken to a vet, but they were not able to save her.  Her family was located a few days later, and were devastated at what happened to her.

Julie Scott spent the weekend putting up fliers, searching her Seymour neighborhood, and calling around in hopes of finding her rescue Golden Retriever mix, Allie.

She had a bad feeling about the dog she's had for four years, only to find out her instincts were right. Someone had shot Allie with a bow and arrow.

Scott said Allie was in the backyard Friday morning when she went to work. When she got home late that night, Allie was gone.
